• These are ribbons conforming to the standards of the FIG (International Gymnastics Federation)

  • The overall length is a standard size and cannot be altered

  • Do not iron, if iron is placed on the FIG logo and maker mark on the tip and end of the ribbon the mark will come off

  • Due to the nature of the material it cannot be washed, the ribbon shrinks when it is washed (and in consequence it will be out of specification size)

  • If left exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight for a long time the ribbon may suffer discoloration

  • The best way to protect your ribbon is to use a ribbon storage case

  • Follow the instructions of the teacher, please do not use for purposes other than rhythmic gymnastics

Why are Rhythmic Gymnastics ribbons made of rayon ?

Rayon is a recycled fiber made by dissolving pulp and the like. The biggest advantage of using this material is that it is less likely to generate static electricity.
The environment for performing rhythmic gymnastics is often an environment where static electricity is likely to occur, such as clothes and mats, which are often made of chemical fibers such as nylon and polyester.
Electrostatic charge is also considered as one of the causes of the ribbon clinging to or entwining on the body.
Therefore, rayon, which is less likely to generate static electricity, has traditionally been used on ribbons as an important material to help performers.
